See Yourself as God Sees You

You are God’s beloved child. Your status, appearance, and accomplishments will not help you earn his love. Your sin, failures, and problems will not make you lose his love.

Have you experienced the transformative power of a new pair of glasses? Once you put them on, the world looks totally different. Suddenly you can walk through a crowded room without bumping into anything. You no longer find yourself squinting or straining to see. New glasses can give you a new lease on life.

A similar transformation occurs when you learn to see yourself as God sees you. God has loved you since He knit you together in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13). You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). God calls you his masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10) When’s the last time you saw yourself like that?

Maybe you’ve fallen into the trap of looking at yourself through the lens of what the world says is important. The impossible standards set in the media and advertising can make you feel like you are not enough. How much of your daily energy is taken up by striving to be better, look better, or live better? It’s exhausting!

God calls you to let your striving cease. You are God’s beloved child. Your status, appearance, and accomplishments will not help you earn his love. Your sin, failures, and problems will not make you lose his love. “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” (1 John 3:1).

Due to the saving power of Jesus’ death and resurrection, God views you as the holy, perfect being He created you to be. When you learn to see yourself as God sees you, you will walk taller, talk more confidently, and feel more peaceful.
